Luigi’s Apizza was established in 1956 when Joseph Abate opened up in the Westville section of New Haven. In the early 60’s the business moved to Broadway in North Haven until it found a home in East Haven for 35 years. Being raised in the family's pizza business, his sons continued utilizing their dad’s traditional flavors and recipes in different locations in the New Haven area. Since taking over the family business when his dad passed away in 1995, second eldest son, Joe, decided to bring Luigi’s back to North Haven in 2007.

Beside bringing back the nostalgia of our original beginnings, complete with jukebox playing old 45’s and retro décor, what makes us special is that we aren’t satisfied to deliver “just” your basic pizza pie, although all those time honored favorites are right there on the menu. Utilizing the freshest and finest ingredients procured from local artisans, Joe has a tireless affinity for experimenting and coming up with the craziest of pizzas! You may think pies like the “mac & cheese pie” or the “loaded potato pie” may be hard to swallow – but don’t knock it til you try it!

So come on in and see our “Book of Pies” located on every table and pick out something that may tickle your taste buds or if you’re a little gun shy just check out the pictures of our specialty pies in our gallery and give us a call….we would be happy to answer any of your questions! We also offer Italian dinners whipped up by our chef as well as subs, salads and appetizers. Hope to see you soon!
